Let’s be clear: this is a global war on women and girls. Studies in countries as diverse as Australia, Cambodia, Spain, Kenya, the UK, and the US all point to a growing epidemic of digital abuse with deepfakes. And one study found that 98% of deepfakes are sexualized and 99% target women and girls.
We cannot wish our way out of this if tech giants keep building bigger and better weapons of sexualized abuse. We have to cut off the supply.
We have a chance to stop them by supporting the growing number of global lawsuits against Elon Musk and the other tech bros fueling this misogynist violence.
