How we defended a kids football pitch in the West Bank
| Dear Terezinha, | We write to you with wonderful news. The children's football pitch in Bethlehem was not destroyed by Israel's bulldozers!This was made possible thanks to the kids' relentless fight to protect it as well as you, Terezinha, and the power of this community. Want to know how we turned signatures into a success story? Keep reading. Our designer Zarpa created a storyboard to show you how we helped protect Aida's football pitch: 
Mohammad from the Aida Youth Center called the Avaaz team and told us the football pitch was under threat from the Israeli army. 
And so the kids launched a petition with Avaaz!
Avaaz members like you stood up for the children from every corner of the planet. Then the kids started a kick up challenge on social media! 
People all over the world joined the challenge and shared the kids' story online. And so we directly reached out to the top football federations. 
The situation at Aida Refugee Camp remains precarious under Israel's occupation, and they're still awaiting written confirmation that the pitch will not be demolished. But there is hope. 
We are blown away by what we achieved together. This goes beyond the pitch. It is a symbol of hope and resistance for Palestinians as they stand against daily violence - and how together we can make a real difference. | | | We sincerely hope that reading this fills your heart with pride, as it does ours.
