Earth Defenders

Every three days, an Earth Defender is killed for protecting their land from illegal logging, mining, and ranching. But with the stroke of a pen, Brazil's President Lula can change this, by safeguarding thousands of hectares of Indigenous territories — a step that would shield communities and protect our forests. Today we will mobilise in Brasilia with the Indigenous movements – stand with us by adding your name to reach 1.5 million voices for Indigenous land recognition now: With the stroke of a pen, Brazil's President Lula can safeguard thousands of hectares of Indigenous territories — a step that would shield communities, remove invaders, preserve culture, and protect our forests. But powerful interests are pushing back, while Earth Defenders remain at terrible risk. More than 2,250 have been killed globally in recent years for standing up to the ranchers, loggers, and miners who invade their sacred lands and forests for profit. Many of these Earth Defenders still lack full legal recognition of the territories they protect with their lives. This can change now: Today Indigenous Peoples and local communities will march through Brasília with one clear demand: for Lula to formally recognise their lands. We will be on the ground with them — and we need your support to make their call for justice unstoppable. Sign now and spread the word — together we can get to 1.5 million voices!
